Snoop Wants Serious Movie RolesRapper Snoop Dogg is upset with movie bosses for not allowing him to take on more dramatic roles to show off his acting range.
The hip-hop star, who has appeared in a range of movies including "Training Day," "Baby Boy," and the upcoming "Starsky & Hutch" film, feels he's yet to be taken seriously as an actor.
Snoop, real name Calvin Broadus, says, "I ain't getting what I want. I'm smiling, but I'm not happy."
"Right now, they want Snoop for the two or three million people they think I'll bring to a movie just because of my name."
"I'm looking for more demanding roles, trying to find characters people normally wouldn't expect me to play. I really want to stretch."
And the "Beautiful" rapper believes his past as a drug dealer, pot smoker and gang member has a large part to do with the general reluctance to cast him in more challenging roles.
He adds, "I have a reputation. The hard part is creating a new reputation. I still make mistakes. I'm not perfect. But I don't claim to be."Is he serious?! Not tryna knock his movie career (well maybe I am), but I fell asleep at the movies when I went to see him in "The Wash" and "Bones". The only movie I really liked him in was "Baby Boy". Otha than that...Snoop needs to go on and retire from both the music and movie biz and concentrate on becomin' the pimp that he's tryna be now.
