Multi-platinum recording artist Faith Evans was in the Fulton County Jail Wednesday, facing drug charges after being arrested in south Fulton County.
The R&B singer and her husband, Todd Russaw, were arrested Tuesday on North Central Avenue in Hapeville, according to police dispatchers.
Fulton sheriff's Lt. Clarence Huber said Evans was charged with having an improper tag, violation of Georgia's controlled substance act (marijuana) and violation of the controlled substance act (cocaine).
Russaw was charged with possession of powdered cocaine and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, according to Huber.
"Both of them have at least one non-bondable offense, meaning that to get out of jail, they will have to appear before a judge at 11 a.m. at the jail," Huber said.
Evans recently appeared in "The Fighting Temptations," a movie starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyonce Knowles.
She has worked with entertainers including Whitney Houston and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs.
Combs signed her to his Bad Boy label and produced Evans' first album, which included "You Used to Love Me," and "Soon As I Get Home."
Evans earned a Grammy nomination for her duet "Can't Believe" with Carl Thomas, recorded on her third album, "Faithfully," released in 2001.
Evans grew up in Newark, N.J., and moved to Alpharetta's Country Club of the South in 2002.
Evans, who has three children, was formerly married to rapper Notorious B.I.G., who was killed in a 1997 drive-by shooting in 1997.
Shame on them!!!!
