Ushering into the world with “wrays” of talent, Nicole was born in the dream state of California, so from birth her destiny was to achieve a dream. She moved to Portsmouth, Virginia shortly after, where the performance bug bit her at an early age. While in high school, she would gain the friendship and faith from hip-hop and r&b artist, Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliot. Missy had so much faith in Nicole that in 1998, after numerous studio sessions, Nicole was deemed the first artist on Missy’s Goldmind record label.
In the summer of 1998, 17-year-old Nicole released her debut album “Make It Hot,” introducing such tracks as the “Eyes Better Not Wander,” the sultry ballad “Curiosity,” and the title track” Make It Hot.” Her album became #2 on the Billboard R&B charts, #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and sold over 500, 000 copies within the first four weeks. Still only 17 years old, Nicole had already shot 3 music videos and appeared as a guest artist on various albums. Shortly after, Nicole parted ways with Goldmind. Moving forward and never giving up, Nicole worked effortlessly on her songwriting, finding harmonies and researching today’s most successful artist, to make an unforgettable return. Now over four years later, with faith and determination, Nicole was once again sought after, and is now the newest R&B songstress on Roc-a-fella Records.
As one of the newest members of the Roc-a-fella Music team, Nicole is now back with her new album “Fantasia Love Child,” slated for a fall release. Her new single “Regrets” is featured in the upcoming tribute album to Jay-Z, “Beyond Reasonable Doubt.” The LP, slated to be released in the summer of 2004, is a double-disc set with songs from Jay-Z’s 8-year album career, being covered by fellow Roc-A-Fella artists. “Regrets,” the first single to be released from that album, is Nicole Wray’s version of Jay-Z’s “Regrets” from his debut album “Reasonable Doubt.”
With her new album “Fantasia Lovechild,” Nicole educates listeners about love, life, relationships and struggle, all while staying true to her home. In this album, she demonstrates her immense growth as an artist and a young woman. Only this time it’s not R&B, it’s a movement ya’ll!
I'm so excited Nicole is making a comeback, I hope she does real well this time around. The song at the bottom nice, I'm not sure if this is her first single. But to me it is not first single material.
