"A Song For You"--Continuation of Part 1

After leaving NBC’s studio and climbing into the back of his chauffeured SUV, Marlon leaned his back against the headrest while thinking back to me like he's always done whenever he performs his stand up routine and talks about the crazy things that went on in his teen-aged life. As the driver weaved in and out of the busy traffic to take him back to his hotel where he'd stay until the next morning, a song from the radio caught his attention. It was Babyface‘s “Whip Appeal". A small smile spread across Marlon’s face as he thought back to the special time he heard it...

Summer 1989...
Marlon and I were sitting on his porch listening to his boom box while talking about what we were gonna do for the summer when my new favorite song came on.

"Oh snap!", I grinned when Special Ed's "I Got It Made" started playing. I began to rap along with the opening lyrics as Marlon shook his head while looking at me.

"Is there a song that comes on that you DON'T know, girl?!", he chuckled as he threw one of his arms around my shoulder.

"Why are you askin' me a question that you already know the answer to?", I giggled.

"Because I felt like askin', dammit!", he joked in a stern tone while glaring at me.

"Anyway...be quiet so I can hear my bay...I mean Ed.", I smirked.

"Gone and say it. Your baby! That's aight because I rock Spinderella's world 24/7! So how 'bout that?!"

"And how 'bout this?!", I warned while holding up my fist at his nose.

"Man, shut up!", he huffed as he playfully tightened his arms around me while leaning me back on the porch. He proceeded to steal a kiss from me.

"Stop! I don't need your momma comin' out here thinkin' I'm a skeeza!", I giggled after our kiss.

"She already think that anyway, so what's the big deal?"

I was about to have a comeback when he started laughing.

"Sike!", he stated with a big cheesy grin.

"You about five seconds away from me clockin' ya!"

"Girl, you know you love me too much to do that.", he winked.

"Anyway!", I sighed with a roll of my eyes as I began to bob my head to Special Ed's flow once again.

"You don't love me?", he asked with a hurt look.

"Yes, I love you, but you can make me sick at times! Now hush!"

"How much you love me?", he whispered as he lowered his arm until it was around my hips. When I felt his hand going lower to grab up to some of my booty and thigh, I quickly nudged him away with my elbow.

"Stop!", I huffed.

"C'mon, pleeeeeeeeeease!", he whined. "Gimme somethin' to talk about when it's time to go back to school."

"Marlon, no! I told you that juss because Shawn and Nessa are gettin' busy already doesn't mean that we're gonna do the same."

Truth of the matter was that I was scared of getting pregnant after Dori became pregnant by her boyfriend and Marlon’s cousin that everybody called Twist a couple of months ago. Daddy and Pam constantly stayed on me and Vanessa about how we'd better not start having sex and end up pregnant.

"Look, how long we been goin' togetha now?", Marlon asked in a serious tone while watching me closely.

I rolled my eyes and looked out at the cars driving by before answering. "Almost two years.", I huffed with a shake of my head.

"And in those two years, how many times have we almost done it?"

"Twice.", I sighed.

The first time we almost did it was on last Christmas when we thought we'd have my house to ourselves. However, at the last minute, Daddy came down with the flu and couldn't go with Pam and Vanessa to her aunt's Christmas party. The second time it almost happened was on Marlon's prom night last month. But when Vanessa and I pleaded with Pam and Daddy to extend our curfew by two hours, they stood their ground which meant our plans of going with the guys to a hotel was out of the window. That’s when I realized that both of these "almost" encounters had to have been a sign that maybe I shouldn't go through with giving it up to Marlon until I was grown and out of Daddy's house like he warned Vanessa and I to be before we start having sex.

"So why not juss gon' and get it done?", Marlon asked while resting his chin on my shoulder after wrapping his arm back around my other shoulder.

"I already told you why."

"Girl, do you know how many condoms I have stashed up in my room?"

"Lemme guess. You got 'em from the clinic right? If you think you gonna use them floured lookin’ thangs on me, you gotta be outta your mind!", I replied with a suck of my teeth as I turned my head to face him.

"Well, if I borrow some from Shawn since he buys his, then can we?"

I took a deep sigh and thought about it for a minute. "Yeah.", I faintly replied with a nod of my head.

"You mean it?!", Marlon happily beamed as he sat straight up while grinning at me.

"What did I juss say?", I huffed while glaring at him.

"Okay. I'll be right back...hey, Shawn!!!!", he yelled as he went running into the house.

Now it was my turn to sit straight up. I didn't think he'd mean for us to do it this soon! And to think, I opened my big mouth and told him that Pam and Daddy wouldn't be home for a few hours. In the meantime, Vanessa was spending the weekend at her cousin's house out in Queens. Needless to say I became a nervous wreck.

"C'mon, girl! Let's go!", he grinned after running back out onto the porch while grabbing my hand.

"Right now?", I asked with a bit of nervousness in my voice.

"Don't go gettin' scared on me, Karmyn. Now let's hurry up.", he huffed as we waited for a car to drive by before we crossed the street.

Once we were in the house about a minute later, I slowly followed Marlon upstairs to my room. He was already on my bed by the time I stepped inside. I took a deep breath as I sat down beside him.

"Where's the radio?", he asked after taking my glasses off.

"Over there.", I replied while pointing over in the direction behind Vanessa's bed as I squinted my eyes.

"Oh, okay. I see it." He proceeded to stand up while removing his shirt and walking over to the radio to turn it on. However, when he saw my Babyface "Tender Lover" cassette inside of it, he decided to turn that on and rewinded it until it was at "Whip Appeal".

By the time he turned around to come back over to me, I had already removed my clothing and quickly climbed under the covers since I was still somewhat insecure about my body even though EVERYTHING I had was filled out now. As Marlon got closer to my bed, I noticed the nervous smile that came over his face. He proceeded to sit down on the edge of the bed with his back to me as he pushed down his denim shorts and boxers at the same time. Afterwards, I watched him as he struggled to open the condom he had borrowed with his teeth. Two attempts later, he was able to open it and I watched as he busily placed it on before he swiftly got under the covers with me while climbing on top of me at the same time.

I jumped when I felt him brush up against my stomach. Before saying anything, he lowered his lips onto mine for a quick kiss. "Rememba, this is our first time togetha so there's no need to be scared."

"O...okay.", I whispered with a quick nod of my head. Then I lay there as he tried to figure out what to do next.

"Damn! I know this thing goes somewhere.", he huffed out of frustration while wearing a look of concentration on his face as he stared at the wall above my head.

"Ummmm...", I started while thinking of a way to help him out as I began to maneuver myself around under him. However, when I felt him pushing forward after finding the correct location, I told him to stop before he could get it halfway in.

"What's wrong?!", he anxiously asked.

"I don't think I wanna do this.", I replied while wincing in pain.

"Maybe I need to get it all the way in first.", he reassured me as he began to push forward some more.

I couldn't help from crying as I felt myself literally being stretched out of shape. The feeling nearly made me sick to my stomach. And I thought Marlon would have stopped when I began to cry harder than I already was, but he was too busy having the time of his life as he began to steadily rock back and forth on me. But thank goodness it didn't last long...he stopped after about three minutes. The reason why I knew was because I turned my head and watched my alarm clock because if he wasn't done after five minutes, I was gonna stop him my damn self!

"Get up!", I anxiously stated while pushing him off of me when he was done.

"Are you okay?", he asked with concerned look since I was still crying while trying to stand up.

"No! Stay away from me!", I snapped as I snatched my comforter away from him to wrap up in as I slowly walked over to my door to go to the bathroom.

"So no chance in doin' it one more time, huh?!", he asked after I was out in the hallway.

"Hell no!", I yelled before slamming the door shut. Vanessa told me that when she did it for the first time, a hot bath in the tub helped her out so I proceeded to run some steaming hot water in the tub so I could do the same. While I waited for the tub to fill up, I slowly walked back into my bedroom to grab some clean clothes to put on while Marlon laid across Vanessa's bed going through our cassette tapes to find something to listen to.

"You can't stay here too much longer because even though Daddy and Pam said they would be gone for a while, they could always get back earlier."

"I know.", he replied with a suck of his teeth as he continued to try to find something to listen to.

"Punk!", I snapped as I gathered my things together before heading back to the bathroom.

On Sunday evening when Vanessa returned home, she took one look at me and knew something was up when she saw me sitting on my bed while doing nothing except listening to the radio.

"Girl, what'chu do while I was gone?", she laughed while staring at me as she began to remove her clothing from her overnight bag.

"Nothin'! Why you askin'?", I replied while folding my arms across my chest.

"Did youuuuuuuuuu...?", she whispered as she came to sit at the foot of my bed while watching me.

"Even if I did, how can you tell?", I nervously whispered back.

"Because, Marlon's outside playin' football with the guys and you're up here in your room. Plus I did the same thing when Shawn and I first did it because I was scared that we were gonna have to do it again if he asked.", she giggled. "But to let'chu know, it gets betta and betta."

"Well, maybe Marlon and I had a fight and THAT'S why I'm up here.", I huffed with a roll of my eyes.

"Now Karmyn...I've known you loooooong enough to know that if yall had a fight, you woulda called me up cryin' about it seein' how much you're in love with that foo'!", she huffed back.

"Oh yeah...but still...well, I wanna see him, but I'm scared.", I blushed while lowering my head.

For the remainder of the weekend, every time Marlon and I talked on the phone, he tried his best to convince me to do it with him again, but there was no way in this world I was ready for another go 'round! Besides, it was painful enough trying to walk in a normal fashion without Daddy and Pam noticing anything.
"Well, juss tell him that you need more time if he brings it up."

"I'll think about it. So how was your weekend?"

"It was coo'! We went out to Times Square and everything!", Vanessa smiled.

"So let me get this straight...you and Karmyn did it only once this weekend?", Twist asked as they sat down on the porch with Shawn while taking a break from playing football.

"Yeah. Ol' girl was cryin' and sh!t buggin' a n!gga out! I guess I got a big ol' d!ck!", he joked which made them laugh.

"In your dreams, foo'! But with all that booty Karm’s got now, she should even be able to handle what I got!", Twist slyly grinned.

"Hey, don't be talkin' about my girl like that! That's what Shawn's girl is for!", Marlon laughed while pointing at him.

"You betta shut your skinny punk ass up! At least I get some on an almost daily basis. Man you need to face it that you were juss terrible and that's why Karmyn don't wanna see you now!"

Marlon's face took on a serious look while Shawn and Twist fell out.

"Yall think that's what it really is?", he asked in a hurt-filled tone.

"Man, I'm only PLAYIN'!!!", Shawn laughed louder than he already was.

"Yall n!ggas ain't funny!", Marlon huffed while rolling his eyes at them while holding his finger up in their direction.

"That reminds me, I gotta call Nessa up to see if she wanna hang out tonight.", Shawn smiled as he leaned forward. Now that he was about to head out to Cali to attend UCLA in another month or so to study film, he wanted to spend as much time as he could with Vanessa.

Later on after grabbing a bite to eat and catching a movie, Shawn drove down to the neighborhood park so he and Vanessa could talk. After turning his car off, he turned in his seat to face her.

"Even though I don't leave for another month, I don't know what I'm gonna do without you.", he whispered in a somewhat sad tone as he gently cupped the side of her face in his hand.

"I feel the same way.", she sighed. "But as long as you don't forget to write and call me, we'll manage. UNLESS you go out there and run into some fine chick and forget all about me.", she chuckled as she kissed the tip of his nose.

"Now you know I won't do nothin' like that unless Janet Jackson happens to pop up on campus; then we might have a problem.", he smirked while looking deep into her eyes.

"I bet I pop you upside your head!", she laughed.

"Nah, don't do that, girl! You know I gotta look fine and put all them otha niggas to shame when I show up on campus.", he grinned.

"Yeah, okay.", she giggled while rolling her eyes.

"So you know we gotta make the most of our time while I'm here right?"

"Yeah, I know.", she replied with a nod of her head. "I'm gonna miss you soooo much.", she whispered as she felt tears welling up in her eyes.

Shawn cupped her face with his hands and brushed her tears away with his thumbs as he began to kiss her slowly and deeply while pushing her onto her back. For the next several minutes, they heavily made out while on the verge of taking things to the next level. However, when Shawn had Vanessa right where he wanted her, that's when he realized that he had forgot to buy some more condoms after giving Marlon his last two a couple of days ago.

"Damn!", he hissed while pounding his fist on the headrest of the seat above them.

"What is it?"

"I forgot to stop by the store to pick up some.", he sighed. "Unless...", he started while looking back down at her.

"Unless what?", she asked while sitting up on one elbow to take a good look at his face from the street light that was several feet away from his car and the trees that they were parked in between.

"I can always pull out.", he suggested.

"Uh uh...we agreed that we would always use condoms, Shawn!", she anxiously replied while trying to move from under him. That's when her foot hit his horn by mistake.

"Girl! You want someone to catch us?!", he whispered while quickly pulling her leg back down onto the seat.

"It'll be betta than ME catchin' somethin'!", she huffed while glaring at him.

"Now you know you the only one I've been with for the past year.", he huffed back with a roll of his eyes.

"I ain't just talkin' about that! What if I get pregnant?! I already told you that my folks ain't playin' that!

"But if I pull out, we won't have anything to worry about.", he reassured her as he gently pushed her back down on the seat.

"You gotta promise me that you will.", she sighed as she felt him taking her.

"I promise.", he replied before kissing her as they proceeded to make love. The way Shawn put it on Vanessa, she didn't know if he pulled out or not...which he did, but just not in enough time...
