Thank yall so much for the good reviews on chapter one. I'm glad yall liked it.
“Oh Lord, who is this?” Samiya was in the middle of washing dishes when her phone rang. When she looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Darnell, she decided not to answer. She wasn’t ready to talk to him yet. She still couldn’t get over the fact that she caught him cheating on her on their two-year anniversary. And he had the nerve to call her. I don’t even want a man no more. I’ll stay by myself, she thought to herself. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her doorbell ringing.
“Samiya, get your purse and let’s go. We going shopping,” LaShonda said as Samiya let her in.
“I’m fine and how are u?” Samiya remarked sarcastically.
“Oh, hey, how ya doing? Now let’s go. Almost every store in the mall is having a sale. And we need outfits to wear tonight.”
“Oh yeah. Aight, let me get my purse.” Samiya said as she made sure her apartment was in order before she left.
At the mall, the girls hit nine different stores to find theirs outfits for tonight. They were having so much fun. They even saw a few cute dudes. LaShonda unsuccessfully tried to hook Samiya up with a couple of them. Samiya wasn’t feeling them, plus she wasn’t really ready to date again. So after they found what they were looking for at the mall, they stopped to grab something to eat and then headed back to Samiya’s apartment. By the time LaShonda left Samiya’s place, it was about seven o’clock in the evening. They had decided that Samiya would pick LaShonda up to go to the club. While Samiya was getting ready, Darnell called her again. And she still didn’t answer her phone. I really hope he don’t think I wanna talk to him, she thought. When she was ready to go, she called LaShonda to let her know she was on her way. Samiya grabbed her phone, her keys, and her purse, and was out the door.
By the time they reached their destination, LaShonda was already crunk. She walked in and headed straight for the dance floor, dragging Samiya with her. Samiya wasn’t really in the mood for dancing, so she headed to the bar. She doesn’t drink, so she just ordered a club soda. While LaShonda danced and had a ball, Samiya sat at the bar feeling sorry for herself. Two different guys offered to buy her a drink, but she turned them down. Every few minutes LaShonda would come to check on her and try to get her to dance or something, but Samiya just stayed at the bar. Then she noticed this really cute dude sitting at the end of the bar. Damn he look good, she thought to herself. When they made eye contact, he smiled at her. He has a gorgeous smile, she thought as she smiled back. She looked away from him, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw that he was still looking her way. Then she felt someone grab her arm.
“Come on, we gotta get outta here,” LaShonda said pulling on Samiya’s arm.
“Why?”
“Cuz some dudes started fighting over there and one of ‘em pulled out a gun. The police will prolly be here in a minute.”
As they were heading for the door, Samiya looked back towards the bar and noticed that the cutie she had seen was gone. When they made it to Samiya’s car, they noticed that the parking lot was quickly becoming empty. As people ran to their vehicles, Samiya searched for the cutie again. She couldn’t get over how beautiful his smile is. She was very interested in him. As a matter of fact, she hadn’t thought about Darnell since she first laid eyes on the cutie. Oh well, I’ll prolly never see him again, she thought sadly. She dropped LaShonda off at her apartment, then she headed home. Once she was settled in, she decided to take a shower and get ready for bed. As she was drying herself off after her shower, she felt a little dizzy. I guess I’m just hungry, she thought. After all she hadn’t had much to eat today. So she headed to the kitchen to find something to eat. While in there, she checked her caller ID and saw that Darnell had called her yet again while she was out. Why does he keep calling me? I don’t have nuthin to say to him, she thought out loud. After she ate, she made her way back to her bedroom, turned on her tv, and began to think about the cutie from the club. She kept seeing his smiling face in her mind. She was really hoping to see him again. As she thought about him, she drifted off to sleep.
……………………………………..
Marques was awakened by the sound of his tv coming on. He had set it to come on so that he wouldn’t sleep too late. He didn’t even feel like getting out of bed. But he forced himself to get up so that he could clean himself up and find some breakfast. All he wanted to do today was mope around his apartment by himself. Then he remembered that Jerome and Kelton were forcing him to go clubbin with them tonight. Maybe it’ll be good for me, he thought. He couldn’t believe how pathetic he was. Why am I still stressing over Jasmine, he asked himself. What was so special about her that I can’t let her go? He couldn’t think of anything. This is ridiculous. I’ll find me a new lil mama, he thought, now determined to get over Jasmine.
When it was about time for him to start getting ready to go out, Marques spent nearly half an hour trying to pick out something to wear. He wanted to look his best tonight. He was almost positive that he would see something he liked, and he wanted to make sure that she likes him too. He told Kelton and Jerome that he would meet them at the club. He wanted to push his own ride, which happened to be a 2003 Range Rover. He put on his favorite cologne, inspected himself in the mirror and was very satisfied with his appearance. He grabbed his phone and his keys, and headed out the door.
“Damn, Marq! U came clean, didn’t u?” Kelton commented as he gave Marques a pound and a half hug when they met up at the club.
“I try, man,” Marques replied smiling.
“ Come on, let’s go,” Jerome chimed in. He was ready to get his party on.
Inside, Marq, Rome, and Kel danced and partied as hard as they could. Marq danced with four different women, two of them at one time. He was having so much fun. He hadn’t thought about Jasmine one time since earlier in the day. He decided to take a break and go get a drink at the bar. As soon as he sat down, he noticed a young lady sitting towards the other end of the bar. She was very attractive. As a matter of fact, he thought she was beautiful. He ordered his drink and decided to keep his eye on her. He wanted to make sure she wasn’t with anybody before he went over to talk to her. As he watched her, he saw two dudes come over and talk to her. He assumed they were offering to buy her a drink. She turned them both down. Thinking that maybe she has a boyfriend, he began to get discouraged. He took a sip of his drink and when he looked back in her direction, he noticed her looking at him. He smiled at her. She smiled back, then looked away. But Marques kept his eyes on her. He watched as some girl ran up to talk to her. Then Jerome came and distracted him.
“Marq, let’s go. We leavin,” Jerome yelled in Marques’ ear, breaking his concentration.
“Why? It’s still early,” Marques protested.
“They done started some sh*t over there and somebody got a gun,” Kelton replied.
“Damn!” Marq said. He wanted to go talk to that chick he was eyeing. Now he was probably never gonna see her again.
Once the guys made it to the parking lot, they said their goodbyes and each got into his own vehicle and peeled out of the parking lot. Marques was still thinking about the girl he saw at the club when he arrive home. He really wished that he could see her again. She was absolutely beautiful. He was also wishing that he had have talked to her when he had the chance. But I can’t let myself get down again. If I don’t see her again, I’ll just keep looking for someone else, he thought to himself. He knew he had to keep himself busy so he wouldn’t think about Jasmine and how she kicked him to the curb for no apparent reason. But he still wanted to know what he did to make her not want him. He never cheated on her, he never raised his voice at her or gave her a reason to fear him, he never called her out of her name, he gave her any and everything she asked for, and he was always there when he needed her. So he couldn’t understand why she wasn’t feeling him no more. But I refuse to give myself a headache tryna figure it out, he told himself. He was just gonna have to get over her. Anyway, he has other things to think about. Like the lovely young lady he had his eye on at the club. Now, the question he kept pondering was ‘will he ever see her again?’
