"Hey, Daddy!", Chastity squealed with delight the early part of the next morning after we went home to get her ready to leave with Boris. I was helping her to buckle her belt on her favorite pair of Barbie jeans when he arrived.
"Hey, sweetie! How's my girl?!", he grinned as he approached us after Gran'ma had opened the door for him.
"I'm fine!", she smiled as he lifted her into his arms.
"That's my sweetheart.", he proudly grinned before looking down at me as I settled back onto the sofa while folding my arms. I made it a point not to look at him. For several seconds, there was a loud silence until Gran'ma spoke up.
"Chastity, honey, why don't I help you bring your bag up front after we put some of your favorite toys in it?"
"Okay. I'll be right back, Daddy! Don't leave me!", Chastity giggled while holding one finger up in the air before running out of the room ahead of Gran'ma.
"I won't!", he chuckled as he watched her disappear out of the room. The moment she was gone, he took a seat next to me which was a lil' too close for comfort as far as I was concerned. I quickly moved away from him.
"So have you thought things over?", he quietly asked while glancing at me.
"Boris, you don't give someone less than 24 hours to decide whether or not they're gonna marry a BOY that was once a lyin', cheatin', filthy DOG!", I huffed as I looked straight ahead.
"I'm tired of playin' with you!", he sighed as he pulled me into his arms and kissed me before I was able to fight him off. And I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it although I pretended not to. I stayed as still as a statue as he continued to give me a kiss that became deeper and deeper until I thought I couldn't take it anymore. However, when he noticed that I wasn't responding, he pulled away.
"Was that supposed to make me give you an answer? Because if that was your intent, then I'm sorry to tell ya that I didn't feel a damn thing!", I lied as I bolted up from the sofa to go stand in front of the large window to look at the children playing across the street.
By this time, we both heard Gran'ma and Chastity approaching the living room.
"Okay, Daddy. I'm ready to go now. And don't forget you promised to take me to McDonald's on the way to your house.", she giggled as she ran up behind the both of us.
"I didn't forget.", he smiled as he took her overnight bag from her.
"I'll see yall tomorrow afternoon when I bring her back.", he smiled at Gran'ma before turning to look at me even though I kept my back to him while trying not to cry.
"Okay. You two have fun.", Gran'ma grinned.
"Bye, mommy!", Chastity smiled as she ran and stood in front of me.
"Bye, boo! Have a good time, okay?", I smiled as I knelt down on both knees to hug her goodbye.
"I will! C'mon, Daddy...let's go!", she stated as she grabbed up to Boris' hand.
"Goodbye.", he smiled while waving at me and Gran'ma. I didn't say anything. I simply left out of the room and let Gran'ma close the door behind him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Here comes Miss Attitude yall!", Stanley announced the moment I walked into the shop about an hour later. He had given me the okay to come in at 10:00 instead of 9:00 on the weekends that he knew Boris had to pick Chastity up.
"Now here you go!", I huffed as I prepared my booth for my first customer of the day.
"So you know Stanley wants to know what happened!", he chuckled while swatting me with his towel that he was about to wrap around his client's neck so he could shampoo her.
"It ain't none of yo' damn business!", I giggled. I don't care how upset or pissed off I would want to be at times, Stanley would somehow manage to make me smile or flat-out laugh.
"Well, juss as long as you know that if you don't want French Vanilla, Ol' Stanley will scoop him up in a heartbeat!", he grinned as he led his customer over to the shampoo area.
"Foo'!", I laughed with a shake of my head.
The next few hours flew by and before I knew it, it was lunchtime. I was on my way out to grab something to eat since I didn't have anyone to work on when Steel strolled inside.
"W'sup, G! I need you to hook a brotha up right quick!", he grinned as he headed towards my station dressed in a simple white t-shirt, some baggy jeans, and a pair of white Air Force Ones. Of course all eyes were on him as he strolled across the floor.
"Man, damn! I was juss on my way out to lunch and here you come!", I laughed with a roll of my eyes as he took a seat in my chair.
"My bad! But you know I gotta look good at all times for my girl!", he chuckled as I wrapped a cape around him.
"Mmmm hmmmm...how's the baby today?", I asked while beginning to shape him up.
"He's about the same. Shondra was gonna take him ova to ma's house so she can see him for a lil' while since she hasn‘t seen him since Tuesday."
"Awwww.", I cooed as I turned his chair to face Stanley's station for a minute so I could edge him up on the left side.
"Well, hi there handsome!", Stanley grinned while waving his fingers at Steel. I couldn't help from laughing which caused me to almost drop my clippers.
"Man, I done told you about that sh!t!", Steel snapped at him while piercing Stanley with the ice-cold stare of his blue eyes.
"Wha'? Stanley can't say hello? Well I've neva in my life!", he dramatically sighed while placing the back of his hand up to his forehead. However, he knew that Steel belonged to Shondra and he always messed with him in a joking manner.
"Stanley, gon' and take your silly ass somewhere!", I giggled with a shake of my head as I finished up with Steel. I then proceeded to turn his chair the other way so I could do his other side.
When I was done, I quickly pushed him out of the chair so I could leave before anyone else could come in for me to do their hair.
When Steel and I walked outside, I noticed Tyrese standing in front of the store on the corner across the street while talking with a group of guys.
“W’sup, man! I’m ready when you are!”, Steel yelled in his direction.
“Aight, I’ll be right there!”, Tyrese yelled back while giving him the head nod.
I was about to walk around to the back of the shop to get in my ride after telling Steel goodbye when I heard Tyrese yelling for me to hold up.
“W’sup, ma!”, he smiled once he reached me.
“Hey, w’sup.”, I smiled back as we stood face-to-face.
“I’m glad I caught you. I wanted to know if you wanna hang out tonight or somethin’? You know…maybe catch a movie, grab a bite to eat…somethin’ like that.”, he smiled.
“Ummmm…well, yeah, I guess I can do that.”, I replied with a nod of my head.
“Sooooooo let’s say I swing by your place around 8?”, he grinned.
“You got it. I’ll see ya then.”, I hurriedly replied as I began to turn around to head to my car. However, I glanced over my shoulder to give him a quick wave goodbye and a smile.
He gave me the head nod along with a wink before turning around and heading over to his ride where Steel was waiting.
“What was up with you two right then?”, he chuckled as they climbed in Tyrese’s ride.
“Nothin’, except I asked her out.” , Tyrese grinned as he pulled out onto the street.
“Oh for real? That’s coo’.”
“Yeah…maybe we’ll really hit it off now.”, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

During my lunch break, I decided to do some window shopping downtown at the mall.
As I was walking past Jaye’s Bridal Shop to head down to Turtles Record Store, I couldn’t help from walking up to the window to admire the different wedding gowns worn by the mannequins. I began to think about how I would be turning 31 in a few days and how I had the opportunity to marry someone who probably was meant for me after all. However, I guess it was my stubbornness that was keeping me from wanting to fully forgive Boris for what he had done to me in the past.
“Hi, can I help you?”, a middle-aged woman who reminded me of Tammy Faye Baker from all the makeup she was wearing on her face asked me after stepping outside of the shop.
“Oh, ummm, hi. I was juss doin’ a little window shoppin’.”, I faintly smiled while glancing at her.
“You appear to be pretty interested in our gowns. How about comin’ inside for just a minute or two to look at some more of our designs?”, she asked in a country drawl while watching me.
“Well, it’s really not necessary since I’m not gettin’ married anytime soon.”, I lightly chuckled with a shrug of my shoulders. “But thank you for askin’ anyway.”
“You’re welcome honey. But just in case you decide to come back, ask for me. My name is Rebecca Lynn Percy.”, she smiled while extending her hand.
“Thank you.”, I smiled as I quickly shook her hand.
“You have a nice day.”, she stated before heading back inside.
“Thank you. You too.”, I replied. I hurriedly made my way down to Turtles. I knew I needed to find some pick me up music to buy now. By the time I was leaving out of the store close to 30 minutes later, I had bought over $130 something dollars worth of music ranging from Wes Montgomery to Lil’ John and the Eastside Boys. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Gran’ma! Gran’pa!”, Chastity exclaimed as she ran towards Boris’ parents, Charles and Lorraine, who were sitting in their den when he arrived with her.
“Heyyyyyyyy…how’s my favorite girl?!”, Charles asked while standing to his feet as he held his arms out to her. As soon as Chastity reached him, he picked her up high into the air like he has always done.
“I’m fine!”, she giggled as he held her over his head.
“Charles, put her down so I can get my hug!”, Lorraine chuckled while lightly swatting him on the shoulder.
“Hey, Gran’ma!”, Chastity smiled after being picked up by Lorraine who was hugging her tightly.
“Hey, sweetie! Guess what Gran’ma has just for you?”
“What?!”
“Let’s go in the kitchen to find out!”, Lorraine smiled as she and Chastity walked hand-in-hand out of the den. Whenever she knew Chastity was coming, she always baked a fresh batch of oatmeal cookies for her.
“So, how is Ginger and her family?”, Charles asked as he and Boris took a seat on the sofa.
“They’re doing okay.”, he replied with a nod of his head.
“Okay, son…what’s going on?”
“What makes you think anything is going on?”, Boris nervously chuckled.
“Anytime you rub your hands together like that, I know that something’s wrong. Or did you forget that your father is one of the…”, Charles began before Boris jokingly finished his statement.
“…Top lawyers in the city.”, he sighed while chuckling. “But there’s nothing wrong.”
“Do you need any money?”, Charles asked while encouraging Boris to talk about what he was possibly dealing with.
“No, of course not. But ummmm…well, Dad, I took your advice and asked Ginger to marry me yesterday, but she said no.” Boris proceeded to sit back on the sofa.
“She did? I would have thought that she would have gotten over what yall experienced in the past.”, Charles replied with a puzzled look on his face. “Despite how your mother feels about her, I’ve always thought that she was a nice girl in spite of the type of environment she’s from.”
“I know. And the bad part is that I’ll never stop loving her even though I messed things up between us. You and I both know that I never meant to hurt her.”, Boris sighed with a shake of his head.
“I know you didn’t, son. It’s just one of those crazy things that us men do sometimes.”, Charles sighed back.
“What crazy things?”, Lorraine asked with a look of suspicion on her face as she came walking back into the den.
“Nothing, Mom. We were just having a father and son talk about life in general.”, Boris smiled while quickly glancing in her direction. “Where’s Chastity?”
“She’s outside playing on the swing. I can’t get over how she’s looking more and more like her daddy every time I see her.”, she smiled as she approached Boris and stroked the side of his face with the back of her hand.
“Thanks.”, he smiled while taking her hand and lightly kissing the back of it. “But she’s also beginning to resemble Ginger a lot more too.”
“Oh. How is she?”, Lorraine sighed as she took a seat in an armchair.
“She’s doing just fine.”, Boris replied while giving his mother a somewhat pissed look as if he were telling her not to start.
“That’s good.”, she replied with a forced smile.
“Why do we have to go through this every time Ginger’s name is mentioned?”, Boris huffed with a shrug of his shoulders.
“Go through what?”, she innocently asked.
“Lorraine, you know what your son is talking about.”, Charles sighed with a shake of his head.
“No, I honestly don’t know.”
“You pretty much cringe whenever you ask about Ginger or if I say something pertaining to her, and you know it.” Boris had leaned forward by this time while staring his mother down.
“There you two go ganging up on me again!”, she snapped while pushing her graying brunette hair away from her face with both hands.
“Don’t go getting all melodramatic, Lorraine!”, Charles huffed.
“You see?! You’re doing it now!”, she angrily stated while pointing her finger at her husband.
“I’m not doing anything wrong. I’m just making an observation.”
“Okay, you two. Let’s just drop this subject before it gets out of hand.”, Boris sighed as he stood to his feet. “I’m gonna go outside to play with Chastity for a while before I take her to my place.”
“Wait a minute, son. You two are staying for dinner aren’t you?”, Lorraine sadly asked after jumping to her feet and grabbing up to his hand.
“Of course we are.”, he smiled while giving her a warm hug. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Miss Thing, I STILL cannot BELIEVE that you have stolen what may have been the PERFECT Mr. Right away from Stanley!”, he huffed while removing my cornrows so I could wear my hair in my usual style of medium and small-sized crinkley ringlets for my date with Tyrese.
“Stanley will you quit it! We’re only goin’ out on an innocent date…I ain’t tryna to put the n!gga on lockdown!”, I laughed while looking at the pissed off look on his face from the reflection of us in his mirror.
“Girl, you know Stanley is in the same boat that we’re all in.”, Cookie laughed as she cleaned up the shop since we were now closed for the evening. “You know there aren’t too many good n!ggas out here nowadays.”
“And you know this!”, Stanley huffed with a roll of his eyes as he continued to work on my head.
I started laughing again before I ended up singing along with Mary J. Blige’s “The Love I Never Had” from her CD that Stanley was blasting. That’s another thing that made the two of us such good friends. We both loved and admired Mary J. and had been to two of her concerts together shortly after I began to work with him.
“Whewwwwwwwwww…sang it Murr!”, he grinned while shaking his head.
“I’ono why yall like that b!tch so much! All she does is holla and sing about being wronged by a no-good ass man! Shoo’…I already be depressed enough without havin’ to hear her scream, cry, and yell about that sh!t!”, Cookie huffed as she walked past me and Stanley to head for the laundry room to wash all of the hand towels we had used for the day.
“Now wait just a MINUTE!”, Stanley snapped while waving the pick he was using on my head in the air.
“Uh oh…you done did it now, Cookie!”, I giggled.
“Nobody and I mean NOBODY says nothin’ about Queen Murr in my presence! I’ll let you steal my money and talk about my MOMMA ‘fore I let you do that sh!t! Now say somethin’ else and Stanley will cut your ass ‘cause I’m PMSin and stressed enough as it is!”, he yelled while glaring at Cookie. And the sad part is that he was very serious even though Cookie began to uncontrollably laugh while shaking her head at him.
I was laughing as well while slowly turning my chair around to face him. I then proceeded to slowly raise my hand in the air. “Ummmm…Stanley, sweetie…just how is it possible that YOU’RE PMSin?!”
“Look Miss Starkist, don’t start with me ‘cause Stanley is not in the mood. I’m pissed off with your fast behind already!”, he spat while folding his arms and looking at me as he quickly tapped one of his feet on the floor.
“Foo’, ain’t nobody stud’n your crazy self!”, Cookie continued to laugh as she stepped inside the laundry room.
“Anyway…yall done made me miss Murr’s whole song!”, he sighed as he hit the repeat button on his remote to start “The Love I Never Had” over again.
About an hour later, he was putting the finishing touches on my hair.
“Now get on outta hear Miss Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Pam Grier, or whoeva the hell you tryna be!”, he pouted as I stood up from the chair.
“Awwwwww…tanky boo-boo!”, I teased as I placed my hands on both sides of his face to pull down to mine. I gave him a playful kiss goodbye on top of his shiny baldhead.
“Girl, stop!”, he chuckled while blushing as I grabbed my purse from my booth.
“Bye, man!”, I smiled as I was stepping outside.
“Call and let me know how things went!”, he yelled as I closed the door behind me.
I gave him the thumbs up sign with a big smile as I stood in front of the door before heading over to my ride. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “How do I look Gran’ma?”, I grinned as I walked into the den while showing off my outfit for the evening. I was dressed in a one-piece black denim jumpsuit along with a pair of black wedge-heeled sandals.
“My baby would look betta if she’d do somethin’ about those things.”, Gran’ma replied with a disapproving look while looking at my “mommy bags” that were slightly peeking out above the zipper of my outfit.
“What’s wrong with showin’ off a lil’?”, I chuckled with a shrug of my shoulders. “I mean there’s no need in hidin’ ‘em. Best to show off a lil’ of what I have now than to wait until I get ol’ and have them draggin’ all on the ground and shhh…I mean stuff.” However, after thinking about what I had just said, I quickly apologized to Gran’ma when she looked down at her own set.
“Ginger, you’re a momma, so you should dress more like one. And now that I’ve said my peace, I’ma gon’ to the back to get ready for church tomorrow. Oh, by the way…you will be home in time to join me for service won’t you?”, she asked while watching me with raised eyebrows.
“Yes ma’am.”, I sighed while looking up towards the ceiling. However, I think she knew that I was lying. But hey, she knew that I would try my best even if I didn’t go to get my praise on with her tomorrow. I hardly ever missed Sunday morning service anyway.
Once she was out of the den, I walked over to the sofa and sat down to watch tv while waiting for Tyrese to show up.
When he came to pick me up about an hour later, I was pleased with what I saw standing on the porch after I opened the door. He was dressed in a white Sean John t-shirt, some black Sean John jeans, and a black pair of Lugz.
“Oooh.”, I sorta blurted out once I had laid my eyes on him.
“The feeling’s mutual, ma. DAMN!”, he grinned while looking at me from head to toe.
“Thanks.”, I giggled while blushing like a damned teen-ager. “Ummm…come on in for a second. My Gran’ma wants to meet you.”
“Oh aight. Ain’t no thang.”, he smiled as I stood to the side to let him in.
“Gran’maaaa! I have someone here for you to meet!”, I yelled in the direction of her bedroom as I stuck my head out into the hallway.
“Okay…I’ll be there in just a second, baby!”
“Have a seat.”, I smiled after turning back around to face Tyrese.
"My, my, my. Who is this handsome thing here?", Gran'ma smiled when she joined me and Tyrese. Her statement made him chuckle and grin from ear-to-ear as he stood up. However, I became somewhat embarrassed.
"Gran'ma!", I whispered to her. "Ummm...this is Tyrese Gibson. Tyrese, this is my grandmother, Lou Ann Casey."
"Nice to meet you.", he smiled while sharing a handshake with her.
"Same here, honey. So what time do you plan to have my baby back home?" Gran'ma reached over and took a hold of my hand. I couldn't help from rolling my eyes while huffing.
"I promise to have her back at a decent hour.", he chuckled with a nod of his head.
"Right!", I agreed with a head nod as well. "Well, we'd betta get goin'. Bye, Gran'ma. Love you." I gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before rushing over to the door with Tyrese to leave.
"Your gran'ma is crazy!", he laughed the minute we were inside his car heading down to the county fair that had been in town for the past week.
"Tell me somethin' I DON'T know!", I laughed with a shake of my head.
When we reached the fair about 15 minutes later, the first thing Tyrese wanted to do was ride on one of three roller coasters that were set up. Only problem was he wanted to ride on the scariest looking one.
"C'mon, ma. I'ma be right next to you.", he smiled while persuading me to ride it as well.
"I'ono, man.", I chuckled with a shake of my head. "I can ride the lil' simple stuff, but that mess right there...uh uh."
"Please, just this one time?", he grinned. The moment he showed off his pearly whites, I couldn't help from giving in. That is until he took me by the hand to lead me down to the very front car. I immediately stopped in my tracks.
"Oh hellz no! Agreein' to get on this is one thing, but I'm not about to ride right in the front!", I huffed. People began to chuckle at how terrified I was looking and sounding.
"Aight, aight!", he laughed. "How about sittin' here in the middle then?", he asked as he led me towards the back of the ride.
"Okay.", I sighed. Once the operator made sure we were properly strapped in, Tyrese immediately placed his arm around me. I must admit that it felt nice like it had the night before.
Just as I was about relax and loosen up, this damn ride took off like a bat outta hell. I immediately placed my hands up to my eyes while screaming my head off although Tyrese found it amusing. He laughed non-stop. By the time we stepped onto the platform after the coaster had come to a stop, I could hardly walk as he helped me out of the car.

"Now wasn't that fun?", he teased as he took a hold of my hand.
"Ask me in about 10 minutes.", I huffed while on the verge of hyperventilating as I put my free hand up to my chest.
"Maybe you need to sit down.", he stated as he led me over to a bench. "I'll be right back with a drink for you."
"Hmmmm...sensitive and thoughtful. I like that.", I faintly smiled as I watched him quickly heading over to a concession stand. Several minutes later, he came back with a cup of lemonade for me and a water for him.
"Thanks." I proceeded to down my drink in no time at all.
"You gonna be okay?", he asked with a concerned look while watching me.
"Yeah.", I replied with a nod of my head. "But I hadn't felt like that since havin' my baby. That's the only other thing that has ever scared me like that!", I laughed with a shake of my head.
"Really?", he chuckled.
"Yup. That was a VERY scary experience!"
"Damn. Well anyway...how is she today?"
"She's with her daddy for the weekend, so I'm sure she's bein' spoiled rotten right about now." The moment I thought about Boris, I felt an empty feeling in my gut.
"Oh that's coo'. Well, feel up to checkin' out some more stuff?" He proceeded to stand to his feet while glancing down at me.
"Yeah, let's go.", I smiled as I stood up.
While walking around, we stopped at a few game booths to try to win prizes. However, I was quite pitiful when it came to the shooting gallery. But I did win Chastity a B2K poster while playing darts. Now I don't like to brag, but I'm the champ when it comes to this game.
"Damn! You are good at throwin' sharp objects, huh?", Tyrese joked as we walked around to look for some more games to play.
"Well I neva know when my skills at doin' this may come in handy.", I chuckled. "But nah...my Gran'pa and I used to play it all the time when I was growin' up."
Tyrese began to laugh before he pointed out the basketball shooting game. "Now here's my shit right here!", he grinned while pointing at it.
"Let's see what'cha got!", I smiled as I stepped to the side to watch him play. Like he said, this game was right up his alley. I watched in amazement along with a few more people as he made shot after shot without missing a single one. By the time he was finished, he had won a big-ass lion cub stuffed animal.
"Awwww...i'nt that cute!", I giggled as the vendor handed it to him.
"Yeah.", he laughed. "If it's okay, I'd like for Chastity to have it. I don‘t think I have any use for this." We both began to laugh before I spoke.
"I don‘t have a problem with her havin‘ this, and I‘m sure she won‘t have a problem either.", I smiled as we walked around and talked for a few more minutes before heading over to TGIF for a late dinner.
It felt good talking with Tyrese as we ate. That is until I received an expected phone call. I explained to him earlier in the evening that my baby always called to tell me goodnight when it was time for her to turn in.
“Hey, mommy. I was callin’ to tell you g’night and that I love you.”, Chastity stated in her sweet and gentle voice.
“Awwwwwww, mommy loves you more.”, I grinned while noticing Tyrese smiling at me from across the table as he went back to eating.
“I just blew you a kiss. Did you get it?”
“Yup.”, I replied with a nod of my head before blowing one back at her through the phone. “I just sent you one back. Don’t forget to say your prayers.”
“I won’t.”
“Good girl. Mommy has a surprise for you when you come home tomorrow, okay?”
“What’d ya get me?!”, she giggled as her voice perked up.
“It’s a surprise. But you’ll like it.”, I chuckled as I glanced at Tyrese. We both began to smile at each other. “Mommy’s gonna let you go to bed now. Good night, sweetie.”
“G’night. Oh wait…Daddy wants to tell you g’night too.”
Before I could stop her, I heard Boris’ voice on the other end as he told Chastity good night. I was about to hang up when he began to speak.
“Ummm…Ginger, I just want to apologize about this marriage thing. I shouldn’t have…”, he started before I stopped him.
“Can we discuss this later? I’m havin’ dinner right now.”, I almost whispered while slightly turning away from Tyrese.
“Oh, okay…my bad. Bye.”
“Yeah.”, I sighed as I proceeded to flip my phone down.
“I’m sorry about that.”, I faintly smiled after turning back around in my chair.
“It’s coo’.”, Tyrese replied. He must’ve noticed the somewhat upset look on my face because he followed up with asking me if I was okay.
Because Tyrese was so easy to talk to, I found myself telling him that for the most part of the day, I was silently struggling with if I was going to accept Boris’ proposal, and how I may have messed that up because from the sounds of it, he was going to take it back. What was more surprising is when Tyrese told me that Boris and I should both talk things over and go for it.
“Are you serious?”, I asked in a shocked tone.
“Yeah.”, he replied. “It sounds like he’s truly sorry what he did.” However, in the back of his mind, he was a lil’ upset that he was actually giving me this advice.
“Everybody keeps tellin’ me that.”, I stated with a shake of my head. “I guess I need to stop fightin’ it and go through with things.”
Needless to say, this conversation pretty much ended our dinner.
When Tyrese dropped me off at home, he gave me a light kiss on the cheek before speaking as we stood on the porch.
“In case you get back with Chastity’s father, will it be okay to call you as a friend?”, he asked.
“Yeah, that’s coo’.”, I smiled with a nod of my head. “And thanks again for everything. “
“You’re welcome. Well I guess I’d betta get goin’ before your Gran’ma sends out a search party for you.”, he joked.
“I hear that.”, I chuckled with a shake of my head. “G’night and drive home safe.”
“Thanks. G‘night.”
Once he pulled out of the driveway, I unlocked the door and slowly walked into the house. For several minutes, I sat on the sofa with my head buried in my hands while thinking about what I was gonna do next.

“Ginger, baby, I didn’t hear you come in.”, Gran’ma quietly stated as she walked into the living room while on her way from the kitchen after getting a glass of something to drink. “Oh hey, Gran’ma.”, I faintly smiled while looking up at her. “Is everything okay?” She proceeded to sit down next to me. “Yeah, I’m fi…no.”, I sighed while leaning my head over onto her shoulder as she quickly pulled me into her arms. “Tell Gran’ma all about it. That boy didn’t try to get fresh with you did he?!” I couldn’t help from laughing while also crying. “No, Gran’ma. He was the perfect gentleman. Maybe a lil’ too perfect.” “What do you mean, child?”, she asked after pulling away to look at me although she kept her hands on my shoulders. “I sorta got to talkin’ about Boris and this whole marriage thing with him and he told me that I should give the marriage a try.” “So what’s the problem, honey?” “That’s just it! I felt strange talkin’ to my DATE about Boris and then have him tell me to go back to him.” I really began to cry this time as I held my head downward. “I’m so embarrassed.” I felt Gran’ma as she placed her hands under my chin. “Ginger…what did your Pa Pa and I tell you about holdin’ your head down?!”, she asked while forcing my head up to look at her. “I can’t help it.”, I sobbed. “You can and you will.”, she replied. “And you have nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed about. I see it as the Lord’s way of lettin’ this happen tonight to make you realize that you and Boris are meant for each other.” “I guess.”, I sighed as I wiped at my tears. “Now c’mon and let’s go to bed.”, Gran’ma smiled as we stood up. However, I told her that since it was still early although it was a lil’ after 12 that I felt like driving around for a while to clear my head. “You will do no such thing! Do you know how many low lives are runnin’ around on the streets this time of night?!” “Gran’ma, please. I promise to be careful. It’s juss that…well I need to do somethin’.” Before she could say another word, I left out of the house without looking back even though she yelled my name out two or three times. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Ginger? What are you doin’ here? It’s after 1:00.”, Boris stated while rubbing sleep from his eyes after opening the door for me. Although he was looking succulent standing in the doorway dressed only in his silk black pajama bottoms, I wasn’t phased. “We need to talk.”, I quietly replied while walking into his living room. “Sure…ummmm, have a seat.” He and I both sat down on his sofa next to each other. “Listen, before you start, I want to apologize for…”, he started. “Yes, I’ll marry you.”, I hurriedly stated after interrupting him. “What did you just say?” “I’ve had a lot of time to think things over, and well…after talkin’ with a friend as well as Gran‘ma, I decided that I’ll marry you if that’s what you still want.” Although I had been holding my head downward while speaking, as soon as I lifted it up to look at Boris, I noticed the smile that was forming at the corner of his beautiful set of lips. “Oh, G! You don’t know how happy I am to hear this! I am soooo sorry for what I did to you!”, he sighed as he wrapped his bare, muscular arms around me while pressing the side of his face up against the side of mine. I returned his hug. “Listen…if we’re goin’ to move forward, we have to leave what’s in the past in the past.”, I smiled after pulling away from him. “Okay. Stay right there.”, he grinned as he jumped up to answer his phone that had began to ring. “Boris! My baby left the house over an hour ago and I haven’t heard from her! Has she called you?!”, Gran’ma anxiously asked while on the verge of crying. “Shhh, shhh, shhh…calm down Ms. Casey. She’s here at my place and she’s fine.”, he smiled while looking at me. “She is?! Put her behind on this phone right now!” “Ummmm…it’s your grandmother.”, he grinned as he held out the phone to me. “Uh oh.”, I chuckled as I took it from him. As soon as I put it up to my ear, Gran’ma went off even though I knew I deserved it. “I’m sorry, Gran’ma. But I didn’t know I was goin’ to end up here. It’s a good thing I did though.”, I smiled as Boris walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist while resting his chin on my shoulder. “What do you mean?”, Gran’ma snapped. “Boris and I are gettin’ married.”, I blushed. “Thank ya, Jesus! Thank ya, lawd! Lawd, I thank ya!”, Gran’ma exclaimed while near the point of getting her praise on. Boris and I both began to quietly chuckle while listening to her. “Gran’ma. I’m gonna let you go now, okay?”, I almost giggled with a shake of my head. “Okay, baby…but you stay put. Do NOT come back out on that highway alone. Just go on in the room with Chastity and sleep there for the night.” If this woman only knew as Boris began to have his effect on me. “Yes ma’am. G‘night.” “G’night.” After hanging up with her, Boris took me by the hand and led me over to an arm chair so I could have a seat. He then proceeded to kneel down on one knee. “Do you have the ring with you?” “Yeah.”, I replied while opening my purse and pulling the box out. With a smile on his face, he took the box from me and pulled the ring out. “Ginger Casey, will you marry me?” He slowly slid the ring on my finger. I slowly nodded my head before answering him with a faint yes. “C’mon.”, he slyly smiled as he pulled me back up to my feet. “Wait…I wanna check on my baby first.”, I stated just as we reached his bedroom door. “Okay. Let’s both check on her.” Slowly opening the door, we stuck our heads inside her room and saw her sound asleep while clutching her most favorite doll that Ma had sent to her last Christmas. “A heavy sleeper juss like her daddy.”, I lightly giggled as I glanced over my shoulder to look at him. “Her daddy’s not gonna be one tonight.”, he replied with a devilish grin. And he ain’t never lied. When we finally did make it to his room, we made up for lost time to our song “Gonna Love You Right” by After 7. [glow=red,2,300]“I can't imagine life/Without you by my side/This is love baby that I'm feeling/And I'm hoping that you're feeling the same way/Things tend to slip my mind/Like how you like to wine and dine baby/With romantic lights/You mean a lot to me in so many ways”--Tyrese: Lately[/glow] [glow=yellow,2,300]***Part 2 Comin' Soon***[/glow]
